Legal research gains a new breath in Brazil with the arrival of a new vehicle for the dissemination of empirical research focusing on the analysis of legal phenomena. In early 2014 we launched the first volume of the Brazilian Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, a result of the initiative of scholars that comprise the Brazilian Empirical Legal Research Network (REED).
The journal is aimed at disseminating results of empirical socio-legal research as well as theoretical and epistemological reflections.

The Editorial Board uses the Electronic System for Journal Publishing – Open Journal Systems (OJS) developed by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (Ibtct). We strongly believe in the potential of online journals to reach a larger number of people. Scholars all over the world can read the articles for free. The goal is to help spread scientific knowledge and consolidate empirical legal research.
